From Tribal to Tweed

Finally home after a long day at the office.. Well, it centainly felt long!

As I didn't have anything to do at work, I started my hunt for the perfect Coco Chanel style jacket.. They seem to be everywhere this season! Technically speaking, number 2 is  more a biker jacket, however, I think it's the perfect modern twist on an old perfect classic!

The most productive thing I've done all day is starting a debate about popcorn.. It obviously has to be salted! I fought long and hard, but despite my eager arguments, I lost the war by one vote..

Tribal fashion

How are we getting on this Friday?

Some Lemsip, a cup of coffee and some tablets later and I'm feeling a bit better! A quick look at my stats also perked me up - more than 2000 hits in the first few weeks! Happy times.. 

Now it's only one more sleep and I'm off to Scotland.. I can't wait to see the highlands in all it's autumn glory! To go with the coulours outside, I've had a look at tribal prints today.. Loving the nail wraps!

Good morning sunshine

The world says hello!

Most mornings I am greeted by the bunnies who live around the office. They're everywhere! Today they even let me take a picture. Usually they flee in panic when I get my phone out..

It looks like they're about to do 'the nasty', but I think they were just about to make a run for it.. Not that bunnies run, but you get the idea..

Checkmate!

That's how I'm feeling at the moment - outsmarted and defeated! I can't believe I didn't see it coming. It crept up on me and knocked me out - this damn cold.. It seems so obvious now. Feeling tired and woolly headed - the signs were right there, but I chose to ignore them as I am going on holiday.. Only two sleeps away! I WILL feel better by then...

How are we doing?

As my head feels like cotton wool, I've treated myself to a time-out with a magazine and a snack.. A little break was much needed, but I can't say I feel refreshed. Now I need to do more washing, clean the flat and work out.. Bring on bedtime (how sad!).. On a happy note, there's only three more sleeps until Scotland <3

Weather forecast: more rain

I can't help but think that the British weather forecasters have given up. Today, the BBC breakfast presenters advised that there would be heavy rain this morning. And for the evening forcast: More rain. They're running out of ways to say it..

To distract myself from the grim reality unfolding on the other side of the window, I am looking for a dress to wear for my birthday. I've been told that I have to dress nice! How rude, as if I don't always.. Anyways, it turns out to be a complete nightmare! I can't seem to find anything I like.. It's even harder as I don't know where we are going - it's all been orchestrated by the bf!

Wish I had a wedding to go to.. At least then I could find a dress!

Dinner for one

Just had tea - which was rather delicious if I may say so myself!

Not too long ago, in total lack of gastronomic inspiration, I opted for a ready meal from the shop. To make me feel better, the till worker looked at me, tilted his head and said 'aw, just dinner for one tonight, eh?' Cheeky sod!!!

Stuffed avocado with chicken and peppers + lovely homemade mash.. Winner!

As we speak, I am doing my very best not to fall asleep on the sofa. Still need to hang some washing, do the dishes and get a workout in before Hells Kitchen.. Not enough hours in the day!

Edge of Darkness

River Island is currently advertising for a new ' futuristic trend' with the slogan Edge of Darkness. I don't really see how black is futuristic as it's the most classic colour out there. However, they have spiced it up with two or three pieces in silver and bronze - and there you have it - it's futuristic.

What's not to love??! Give me a job where I can dress like this.. Or send me a bag of money so I don't have to work - I could wear this to a bar..  Either would be fine :)

Times they are a-changing

Final countdown

Five more sleeps and I have a whole week off. I. Cannot. Wait!

The week will be spent in the Scottish Higlands in a beautiful cottage with my favourite person. Safe to say that there's a rather meticulous plan for our stay, and I am so excited to see all the things we've jotted down so far.

I have to get through this day first, though - bank holiday, no calls - torture.. Thank God I have the internet and a book to read.. I've also started looking for tomorrow's bargains.. Ahead of the game!

Lounge camping

I'm pretty sure that pitching a tent in my lounge is one of the best ideas we've ever had.. Although it started out as an absolute nightmare, it turned out to be a great night!

For those of you who ever want to set up a tent inside, I recommend you bear these tips in mind:

1. Read the instructions
2. Move furniture BEFORE you've set up the tent and realise that it doesn't actually fit in the room
3. Make sure that things like TV's, hubs and laptops are put away

It is safe to say that we massively underestimated the size of the tent! Even after moving all the furniture out of the room, we were still not able to set the tent up properly. As we couldn't stretch the tent out, we were unable to use either of the two (!!) bedrooms.. Nonetheless, we broke out the sleeping mat, our double sleeping bag and some pillows and watched a film whilst eating chocolate cheesecake! Amazing...

Wish I could sleep in this every night...

What's with the stache??

Yay, it's finally here!! Joy oh joy - Friday how I love you!

Hope you all have great plans for the weekend.. I'm going lounge camping.. It sounds like a real thing, but I'm actually just setting up a tent in my lounge to check that it doesn't have any holes in it.. Would rather know now before I set off in the lovely British weather! I'm probably more excited than I should be as I'm dying to break out the candles and hot chocolate.. This all makes me think of 'The Holiday". The scene in the tent is just too cute..

Lately, I've come across the weirdest of trends.. Who in their right mind would consider moustaches to be fashionable??! "Oui oui, this is très chic!" They're not cool on men, and they're definitely not cool on jewellery or prints.. Get a grip..

There's no doubt that burgundy is THE colour this season.. It's everywhere, and everyone is blogging about it.. Although it has never been a favourite of mine, I've finally come to accept it and might even buy into the trend.. Literally..  I do love the jacket!!

Bitter much?!

Good morning!

How are we this Tuesday?

Just popping in to say hi really, as my brain is not working yet. Getting up at 5am every morning is just too early! Yesterday, I got home a lot earlier than usual and celebrated with a little nap - because that's how you celebrate when you're a senior citizen (mentally).  Actually, I slept all afternoon and didn't get a chance to do any of the things I was supposed to.. Oh well, I woke up just in time for X Factor and Hells Kitchen :)

For those of you who says it is still summer...

I beg to differ! Summer never came to England this year, and I'm actually quite bitter. How unfair!

Monday morning blues?

Not this week!

It might be cold, raining and generally miserable, but I feel positive as ever this morning. I spent a lovely weekend with the bf and had a really good workout last night. Life is good!

Dress up

I love wearing dresses to work! In the office, we have to look smart at all times, and unfortunately jeans is NOT an option. Therefore, I have had to explore this whole new world of office wear and dresses are my absolute favourite.

Easy does it

Good morning! I can't believe it's finally Friday :)

Last night I went back to the park and got so excited that I actually started running without even realising at first. I don't run.. Ever.. Not because I don't want to, but because my knees won't allow it.. I might give it another whirl though, as I felt amazing afterwards!

When I got home, I made myself a strawberry/blueberry smoothie to celebrate my good effort..

Then I had a whole bowl of popcorn whilst watching 2 Broke Girls... Ooops

Goes a long way!

Getting up this morning was absolutely BRUTAL.. To make things worse, I was convinced it was Friday. I usually don't have a hard time getting up, and once I'm up, I'm ready to face the day. This morning, however, I felt like a zombie.. I can't remember much, but I obviously got on a bus and made it to the trainstation.

Life is a walk in the park

Last night, I actually made it across the road  - no nap needed.. Sun was shining, and I was very excited to get some fresh air!

So I grabbed some magazines, a bottle of water and a notebook and was sure that my little excursion would leave me feeling inspired.. Little did I know what awaited me behind those black iron gates - a pond with brown water and rubbish everywhere. Lovely!

Nonetheless, I found a bench, read my magazines and scribbled down some notes - so all in all, I guess it was a success?!

The woman in black

When I got home yesterday, I was amazed by the lovely weather as it had been grey and gloomy all day. As such, I decided to go for a walk in the park after dinner. Having spent the whole day in the office, I thought I would take some pictures and get some excercise all in one go. Which would have been a great plan if I hadn't fallen asleep at 7pm like an old nan. Jeez!

However, a new day and new possibilities lie in front of me.. Oh yes, the glass is half full :)

As I don't have anything to do in work atm (as if I ever do), I've had a little look online for some black pieces.. I want them all!

Fall is upon us

A little piece of heaven

I absolutely love Sundays and I'm pretty sure I've been more productive today than the rest of the week put together. The day started with a lovely breakfast prepared by the bf. I've since been to town, done some washing, put clothes away, made bread, made dinner, assembled a coffee table, done my nails and worked out..

Time for a little treat before I resign to the couch - a bath and a drop of wine..

To Build a Home

I'll guide you to a beautiful song, which is also the header of this entry. It goes with the theme.

I've recently moved into a new flat and my chosen colour scheme is based on shades of white, grey and silver. Although I absolutely love the place, it certainly needs some sprucing up! Nothing major - just a few details which will make it feel like home.

I happen to have two couhes in my lounge, so I'll need at least six cushions. Let me tell you - you can never find anything when you're looking for something specific!! However, having looked everywhere, I finally landed on these cushions from H&M of all places. The silver box and the lanterns are also from H&M, while the blanket is from IKEA and the wooden box is from Debenhams.

I've also found this great website that sells wall stickers - what a great way of updating a room!

This one is pretty good too, I could do with a chandelier!

Can't wait for it all to come together. As I'm about 80 (mentally), I would much rather stay in with food, wine and a film, than going out, so I like spending time, effort and money on my home!
