Getting crafty - DIY Calendar

Finally, finally Friday - whoop!

Hopefully, I can get a bit more out of this weekend than the last (and the last two weeks for that matter)..

As I haven't been feeling all that great lately, I've tried some small DIY projects, just to feel like I am actually accomplishing something..

I tend to get a bit nutty if I don't have any outlets for my weird sense of creativity - and to be honest, there's not a lot of opportunity for that in my day job...

So in the spirit of getting organised, I made myself this monochrome (all black and white) calendar for next year...

If you'd like one, you can find a downloadable copy on Etsy

Word to the wise

Morning sunshines!

This as been an eventful morning:

The sun is shining, the bf is still in bed and I was bored..

So I stumbled into the office and randomly created an account on Society6

If you've never been, I suggest you head on over - it's a mecca for creative souls :)

And if you're lucky, you'll earn some money on your creativity too!

I simply jotted down some good mantras - and BAM you can get them as wall prints, phone cases and stationery cards! Click here to get free shipping until 8th June.

Have a great day everyone!

DIY key holder

My love of simple, yet clever DIY ideas is endless!

I've seen something like this before, but thought I would give it a go, and here's the result!

I actually had this frame already, as I had planned to give it to my sister. The fact that it has keys on it is just a bizarre coincidence. But hey, it works, right?!

All you need is a picture frame, a small hook and somewhere to hang it on the wall - unless you of course have a table to place the frame on.. That would be my choice... If I had a table...

Hope you liked it :)

DIY mani with a twist

I never get my nails done as I am simply too much of a control freak.

I don't like the way they file my nails and I'm never happy with the result!

For the most part, I have natural looking nails - I swear by Rimmel Stronger double duty base coat and I get lots of questions and compliments.. So as I am venturing outside my comfort zone, I thought I would show you this DIY mani..

You can use whichever colours you want, but I've opted for a nude base with a black crackle effect varnish, both from BarryM.. And I've finished it off with a coat of the base coat I mentoned - it works like a charm :)

So get your nails prepped, then apply however many coats you need of your main colour.. Then get your crackle effect varnish and apply to the tips of your nails. If you want, use some nail tape to get an even look on all your nails - I didn't have any at the time so you can easily go without...

Easy peasy, and oh so cheap!

Simple DIY candles - What boredom can do to you

You know what I said the other day about getting back in touch with my creative side?

Well, this is what happened the other night, when I was extremely bored, and generally unmotivated..

All you need is a pair of scissors, a few candles and some washi tape and bish, bash bosh, you've got yourself a customised little treat.. Gotta love a simple DIY idea, right?

Well, if nothing more, it kept me occupied for a little while..

Hope you liked it..

Later!

DIY Ballerinas with ankle strap

Due to my recent obsession with Pinterest, I am absolutely addicted to DIY ideas, and when I saw these ballerinas in Zara a while back, I was sure I could make something similar...

The good thing with these, is that you can change the strap to fit your outfit.. Genius and cost effective! Can't say fairer than that, now can we?!

All you need is a pair of ballerinas, some kind of ribbon and whatever material you chose for your ankle strap.. You could use a number of things; fabric, chains, bracelets, braided ribbons etc.. As the bf is away for a mere two weeks now, I think I'll get my artistic groove on this weekend!

Happy Monday by the way - hope you're having a great start to the week :)

DIY Statement Necklace

Ok, I admit it - I am absolutely addicted to Pinterest. People are just so darn clever and I keep thinking to myself - I have a masters degree, why didn't I think of that?!

There are so many things on my DIY to-do-list, but this necklace is definitely high ranking! Great gift idea too.. I desperately need to find some local craft stores!

I've gathered lots of clever ideas on my DIY board, so head on over if you're into that kind of thing :)

DIY Sandals

Oh, do I have a treat for you!

Yesterday I came across this ridiculously easy, yet utterly fabulous idea on how to revamp those boring, old flipflops.. Gotta love an idea where you can basically create your own shoes with zero effort AND using things you already have lying around the house!

All you need is a pair of flip flops and some fabric, and bish, bash, bosh - you've got yourself a pair of these...

Pinterest is da bomb!

LOVE them, and will most definitely be trying this as soon as the weather permits open shoes!

Genius DIY clothing rack

Earlier today I came across this awesome DIY and I really wish I had space to do it myself!!

Check out Love Aesthetics for the original post on how to make this clothing rack by using nothing but plumbing tubes and a few 3 way joints - gravity will do the rest.. So, so clever!! And very minimalistic - meaning that your clothes will really stand out..

So what do you think? It's good, isn't it?!
