More gift ideas

It's always good with some brainstorming when it comes to gift ideas, so I thought I would share five more tips with you :)

1. Perfume - just make sure you do your research and get one that your friend actually likes! There's nothing worse than getting perfume that makes you smell like an old lady or just stink...

2. A refill automiser... I want one!

3. Scarves - who can ever have enough?!

4. A watch - I quite like this one from Asos.. As it says "once upon a time", you could give it along with a framed picture  - to remind someone of a special/funny memory you've shared...

5. Electric lash curler - seriously, it IS the best invention since sliced bread! It makes all the difference.. I have one from ModelCo, but I'm sure any will do..

Season's Greetings

I have had an extremely productive day today, but still feel like there's not enough hours in the day.. After working out, wrapping christmas gifts, doing a load of washing, making dinner and doing the dishes, I am now writing this year's Christmas cards..

I am extremely strict about Christmas as I love it with all my heart, and I strongly believe that it does not start until 1 December - and it's now so close that I can taste it.. Although, it might just be the tangerine I'm eating...

Cold and crisp

Winter has finally made it to Liverpool! Can you believe it?!

There might not be any snow just yet, but I did have to de-ice my car this morning.. Hey, it's a start and I'll take it.. No one else seems to be very pleased with this, though..

(Just for the record, I did de-ice the whole thing - safety first!)

Christmas shopping and a glass of wine

After work last night, I headed over to the retail park to pick up some Christmas gifts - which was much needed after the Glasgow fiasco! As I was on a roll, I thought I would do some internet shopping as well, and I must say that it is even more enjoyable with a glass of wine!

Back from Glasgow now, and I've had such a good weekend! It really was the perfect city break - a bit of shopping, culture and a LOT of food.. 

We we're greeted by this lovely Christmas fair.. Love Glasgow :)

I know these masks should have freeked me out, but I really liked them! If you're ever in Glasgow, you should definitely pay the Kelvingrove a visit..

Yeah, the bf thought it would be fun to block me in the bathroom whilst I was having a shower.. He was rather annoyed that I wasn't scared when I opened the door... Boys!!!

Afternoon tea! For breakfast.. That's how we roll..

We also went to the cinema to see the newest Twilight film, and I haven't made my mind up yet.. I liked bits of it, but not sure what I thought of the ending..Either way, it doesn't really matter as the bf got me a bag of popcorn and some chocolates! I was a happy bunny..

Yesterday's outfit

The sun is shining in Glasgow and we are about to get ready to head out for breakfast..

Also got a chance to wear my new coat and gloves.. Dinner was SO good btw! Had far too much food and was practically rolling back to the hotel..

Oops I did it again

I've spent money on myself when I should have been looking for Christmas presents!

To celebrate my new job, I felt compelled to treat myself to a couple of things.. Amongst other, I found a lovely black coat at H&M - classic! Also got some new gloves, a belt and a box of chocolates for the bf.. See, I did think of someone else for a brief moment!

Not sure if today should be classed as a great success or disaster!

Anyways, I'm now back at the hotel and am getting ready for a bath.. Aaaah..

Definitely a success!!!

A tip for your costume/fake jewellery

You know how  custume or "fake" jewellery can fade and turn a rusty/green colour as you wear it? I've got a great tip for you.. I've tested it myself over a few weeks to make sure it actually works..

The only thing you need is clear nail polish! Just cover the parts of the jewellery that will be in contact with your skin.. Easy peasy!

To ensure longer wear-ability also make sure you take off your jewellery before washing your hands!

What a productive day!

I bounced out of bed at 9am this morning, and just knew that it was going to be a good day.. I left the house less than an hour later and headed into town for a haircut.. Although I was told that my hair was shot to hell, the lovely lady was able to work miracles and I feel like a new person!

I also feel like the cold is finally ready to say bye for now, so I'm all smiles.. To celebrate I finished my first workout in weeks.. Although I thought I was about to be sick at one point,  and think I'm about to cough up my guts, I'm feeling pretty good!! Gotta love those endorphins..

Movie night

I might be boring, but I would chose a night in over a night out any day!

Especially when I've spent the last four days vegging out with a cold.. So yesterday, I went to the bf's for dinner and a movie :) We're watched Breaking Dawn part 1.. I never really got the hype of these movies and chuckled to myself at screaming teenagers and had no idea what team Edward or team Jacob meant.. Then we watched the first movie  a while back and there you have it.. I'm team Edward all the way! Haha..

Me and my BFF

That's right.. Today this box of tissues has become my BFF..

And I am just as sad as I look! 

As it's my grandad's birthday in a couple of days I had to leave my germ infested flat to go to the post office.. And what a task that was!! The post office is literally a five minute walk away, but halfway there I broke out in a cold sweat and shivers.. I never thought I would make it back!

God, I hate being ill! However, the bf says I must enjoy it as I'm so good at it...

Note to Santa: please give me a new skill set -  I don't want to be ill all the time! And if you're feeling generous, I could also do with some money :)

Monday morning blues and brown cheese

Good morning!

How was your weekend?

I went to Wales with the bf, but it didn't really go as planned.. On Saturday we got soaked as it was pouring down, so we didn't really see much of Caernarfon..We managed to do some Christmas shopping, though, before we headed back to the hotel.. Then we both fell asleep before 9pm!!

At some point during the night, I woke up panicking as I couldn't breath - oh yes, I'm having a cold.. AGAIN... So our nice, long walk was cancelled - but of course the weather was lovely!

On our way home, we stopped by the bf's mum for dinner...  She had been to Harrods in London earlier in the week and had brought back some Norwegian brown cheese for me - my favourite!!

I might be sick, but at least I can enjoy one of the best combos in the world - brown cheese and Lipton Blue Fruits tea! Yeah buddy!

Christmas shopping - my top tips

The annual christmas shopping is dreaded by many, as lefts face it - there's a lot of money to be spent on gifts, food, drink etc. So today I thought I would share some tips on how to get some bang for your buck when it comes to getting gifts for your loved ones.

Remember, it's not about how much money you spend - it's about getting gifts that will light up the faces of  those you love :) With a bit of creativity you can get them something really special..

Ok, so let's start with the obvious - start early, set a budget and be organised.. I always keep a list of who I have to shop for, and usually plan what to get them before hitting the shops. That way, I already have a budget in mind and can look for something I know they'll like, instead of getting stressed by the hustle and bustle of the high street.. Christmas shopping should be fun!!

If you, like me, hate crowds, spend your time online - there's loads of bargains to be had!! My absolute top tip is to check out jewellery on sale - fantastic gifts at a fraction of the price.. Debenhams and Argos for example always have a great selection!

Looking for dvds or box sets? Check out supermarkets for big discounts! They also have lots of cheap books..

Another tip is to save your Boots points and really make them count on their 3 for 2 offers leading up to Christmas.. The only thing better than reasonable gifts must be FREE gifts.. Win-win!! Visit their website here.

What to get your grandparents, aunts or maybe your in-laws? They probably have everything they need, so I would suggest making them something, as it is far more personal, and I'm sure they'll really appreciate it! The sky is the limit, you can make photo albums, knit something, bake something etc.

Last year I made Norwegian cookies for the bf's mum and dad, and also found a brilliant gift you could give to everyone, really, but perfect for those with kids - something for them to do together.. Cookies in a jar - Google it!! You can pick your favourite recipe and layer the ingreditents in a jar as you see fit. You can also decorate the jar and add a nice note with the instructions.. Fab!

There are so many ways to make your money last longer, and I hope you're all being sensible! Christmas is not about out-shining your friends and family with the most expensive gifts.. At least that's my opninion...

The sweetest thing

Today was my last day at work and one of my wonderful co-workers had his wife make me this beautiful cake to say 'goodbye and good luck'.. I was utterly surprised and moved by this gesture and just have to share it with you.. Wish you all could taste it - it's AMAZING!

Ending my time with the company on a high - literally, I reckon the cake is 90% sugar.. Just the way I like it!

Result!

I'm not even ashamed of the lengths I went to for a glass of wine today!

First of all, I had to swing by Tesco on the way home to get a corkscrew.. Then I had to spend about 5-10 minutes uncorking the bloody bottle!! Don't ask me why - it's not my first rodeo, but for some reason it was really hard.. Where's the men when you need them?! I was just about to give up when I heard that familiar little pop and it was like music to my ears...

A few cuts and a whole less energy later I am now reaping the rewards of my hard work... (Yes, I do actually have cuts on my hand - no jokes!)

Aaaah it's been too long!!

Now it's feet up and the very first episode of Game of Thrones - exciting...

Wednesday = cleaning day!

Good God, this has been the most boring day ever!

It felt like time stood still in work, and I thought home-time would never come around..

Finally home now, though, and Wednesday is cleaning day - which is beyond needed! The flat is gross as I've not had the energy to clean lately... But now, I'm going to get to it BIG TIME  :) Happy days! It just so happens that I've had some good news today which gave me a bit of an energy boost.. I'll tell you about it later when it's all finalised..

To celebrate, I had big plans of having a glass of wine - thinking screw you Mr Doctor man saying I can't drink.. Then I realised that I still don't have a corkscrew!!! Then I was screwed! Typical..

Oh well, I'll have this little Aero dessert, then burn the calories by scrubbing away... Plan!
